Why Do We Forget Our Previous Life?

Ever since the beginning of time, people have believed in reincarnation. Even now in modern times reincarnation continues to find a place in many religions, whether it’s the Japanese, the Chinese, the Africans, or even the aborigines of Australia. Even many new age religions believe in the concept of having lived previous lives, and that a past life can have a significant influence on one’s present life.

Because it is often believed that a past life has an effect on your current health and well being, many people believe that it’s important to know yourself, and also who you were in your past lives. It may well be in your own best interest that you settle the demons which may have been left behind. Also, it could well be worth your while to gather up all the strengths and knowledge which you’ve gained during past lives, in order to be a stronger better person in this life and in future lives.

So, is it possible to tell whether or not you’ve had past lives? While you may have some rather disturbing dreams, or you may have some strange memories which you feel don’t really belong to you, it may not always been possible to know for sure if you’ve had a past life. Of course while the vast majority of people who believe in reincarnation tend to believe that everybody has had a past life, a bit of simple mathematics would suggest otherwise. Other indications you may wish to look out for:

* An intense attraction towards a specific culture with which you’ve had no exposure in this life, and for the most part one which makes little sense to you. If for example you feel deeply attracted to the art or history of a certain era, then you may have had a past life experience regarding that particular era. Quite often if you do a little research and it so happens that the art you’re attracted to stems from a relatively short time period, then there’s a strong possibility that there’s something there.

* If a particular historical event tends to stir up strong emotions. If for example you become extremely emotional when you read about a certain historical event, then that could also be an indication that you were somehow involved in that event during a past life.

* Do you have any irrational fears, phobias or allergies which simply cannot be connected to your childhood years? Remember both physical and psychological issues could be linked to past life experiences.

While the above list is far from being a complete list of indicators, it does however point out a few of the common ones. However, even if you have experienced one or more of the above, that does not necessarily mean you are remembering a past life. Instead, you should focus on looking for some type of pattern with regards to the things which tend to attract you for no obvious reasons. Once you do start to notice a pattern forming, putting the puzzle together will become increasingly easy.

Interestingly enough, hypnosis and self hypnosis make it possible for people to access their past lives. In fact you now have past life regression therapists who specialize solely in helping people to access their past lives. These therapists make use of ‘deep hypnotic remembering’ in order to recover memories which are locked in your subconscious.

If on the other hand you choose to use self hypnosis rather than a past life regression therapist, you should aim to use a technique which doubles up as a method of deep relaxation. Furthermore, before using the technique for regression, you should first spend some time working with it.

From a safety point of view, there is essentially nothing you need to worry about because you’ll simply be experiencing a vivid recollection of a past life experience or experiences. In fact, rather than experiencing an intense recollection, you may experience nothing more than a few feelings.

Of course, just as good memories usually pave the way for good feelings, bad memories can pave the way for bad feelings. In that case you will simply wake up to an uneasy feeling similar to what one experiences after having had a nightmare. Of course you may not even experience any bad memories at all.

Remember, the important thing here is that you actually manage to remember something from a past life. Once you do start remembering then of course it becomes possible for you to move on in this life. It is only when the subconscious mind is suppressed, that numerous problems begin to surface. Providing you understand and accept what has happened in the past, you can move on in this life in a way you never before thought possible.

Those who are familiar with the theory of karma, will know that it is believed that when one has led a good live and done good things, then you will in turn receive good in this life and in future lives, unless of course you change into a bad person at some point. In that case, rather than being blessed with goodness, you can expect to be surrounded by unpleasant events until such time that your karma once again becomes balanced.

Strangely enough, many people still tend to get confused with regards to how they should interpret this. The bottom line is, just because you may have done some bad things in a past life, doesn’t necessarily mean that this live has to be one of suffering. To the contrary, each time you start a new life you are given the opportunity to do things the right way in order to receive good karma. For this reason if you have a bad memory and you realize that it’s from a past life, you can then free yourself from that memory and go ahead and have a good life now.
