No Need to Add in a Workout, Reduce Your Calories Instead

Only Work Out 3 Times a Week To Get the Perfect Body

I decided that this summer I was going to deliberately back off on working out and only go into the gym 3 days per week. No matter what I wouldn’t put in more than 3 days, even if I only made it into the gym 2 days the previous week. So most of the weeks I did get in 3 workouts, but a few times I only managed 2 times per week. My physique is about as sharp as it normally is with much less time and effort. That’s definitely a plus!

Lowering Calorie Intake To Minimize Time Needed in the Gym

I knew I didn’t have to go crazy and drastically reduce calorie, I simply ate slightly smaller portions a lot of the time. Obviously I still had the occasional big meal, but I did my best to simply eat “a little less”. I have to say, I found it fairly simple. Exercise can increase the appetite, and since I was exercising less, I craved less food. I didn’t count calories, but just followed my instincts of eating a little less. As do many other people, I sometimes fast 2 times Monday through Friday.

Shorten Workout Time As You Slow Down Calorie Intake

To balance out how many calories you use when exercising, you really don’t have to drastically reduce your daily caloric intake. Even if you just refrain from eating 100 more calories than normal, it’ll help. Walking more and getting out and about more often in addition to this will have the same result as a trip to the gym. You could even improve your health over a certain amount of time. Consume fewer calories and increase your daily activity. It’s easy and effective to boot.

Circumstances That Require More Workouts Per Week

My advice is to put in a little more effort in the beginning to quickly reach your fat loss goals, but then figure out the minimum “gym-time” it requires for you to maintain that physique. If you have a specific goal for looking good or being strong, like athletic training or events, or even auditions, you will need to increase gym time. From day to day, however, take it a little easier on yourself.

Initially, it can’t be bad for you to exercise more often.

There is something to be said for building a base of strength your first 1-3 years of training. If you’re doing this, 5 days a week training is perfectly normal. The best thing to do is reduce the number of workouts once you reach your goals. From here, just do what you can to maintain the look you want without sacrificing your free time. If you’re active enough outside of the gym, it’ll be much less work for you as you train, as you don’t need as much exercise.
